About Social Bite

Social Bite first began in 2012 as a sandwich shop in Edinburgh operating as a Social Business. Now, ten years on Social Bite has grown to include five shops across the UK in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London, a head office which is home to a charitable fund.

We employ people who come from a background of homelessness or have extreme barriers to employment.

Programmes like our Jobs First initiative provide supported job opportunities and onward career progression to help break the cycle of homelessness.

Each of our coffee shops gives away fresh, free food daily to people experiencing homelessness and food poverty in the local area. This, combined with the food that we provide to our network of charity partners across the UK, adds up to over 210,000 items of food and drink given away each year.

in 2015 the Social Bite Fund was established – a registered Scottish Charity – with the mission of ending homelessness. Each of our shops contributes to the mission by acting as a hub for social impact activity, employing people with a background of homelessness and using its profits to contribute to the mission.
